Today, the Las Vegas Deaf Seniors (LVDS) community welcomed Joy Hoover, Candidate for Congress NV-01 and proud self-described “Human Who Gives a Sh*t,” for an engaging and heartfelt presentation focused on advocacy, accessibility, and protecting vital community resources.
The event brought together community members, advocates, and supporters for an afternoon of discussion and education. Joy Hoover addressed attendees with passion and authenticity, emphasizing the importance of protecting accessibility, strengthening community services, and ensuring that Deaf and senior voices are heard in government decision-making.
The presentation featured ASL interpretation and active audience participation, creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all attendees. Participants asked thoughtful questions, shared personal experiences, and connected over issues impacting seniors, disability rights, and healthcare access.
A special thank you to Sara Sain Jurgens, CEO of Sammy’s Den, for generously volunteering as interpreter during today’s presentation. Her support and dedication helped ensure clear communication and accessibility for everyone attending the event.
